Oulu2026 Opening Festival 16.-18.1.2026\"\"<\/p>\n

Flow Productions is kicking off its 20th anniversary celebrations at the opening of Oulu European Capital of Culture year. Flow has curated a series of spectacular performances for the Oulu2026 opening festival. We have a total of 15 performances over the weekend, as well as the premiere of a dance film. For our small group, it already feels like a Flow festival within the festival. Take a look at the program curated by Flow Productions and join us in the festivities!<\/p>\n

Combining contemporary dance, aerial acrobatics, and physical comedy, Naapuri takes a peek into the parallel lives of people living in an apartment building. The performance brings to the viewer\u2019s doorstep a recognizable and delightful neighborhood and its lovable and tiresome residents. Through encounters between neighbors, painful perspectives on broader social issues of our time, such as hierarchies, changes in solidarity, and belonging, are revealed.<\/p>\n

Jay Gilligan (SWE\/USA): ANOTHER SUNSET 16.-20.2.2026\"Jongl\u00f6\u00f6ri<\/p>\n

Another Sunset is a work that combines storytelling, juggling, and music, in which the colors and shapes of the objects are an important part of the whole. The title Another Sunset refers to the moment when you stop to enjoy all the colors of the sunset. Jay Gilligan’s performance is an invitation to his own sunset, set to music.<\/p>\n

During his 40-year career, juggler Jay Gilligan has performed in 38 different countries, appeared in productions by some of the world’s most famous circus companies (such as Cirque du Soleil), broken world records, and won numerous gold medals.<\/p>\n

It is a world where nothing is quite what it seems: traditional circus disciplines \u2013 magic, aerial acrobatics, juggling, and balancing \u2013 take on new and unexpected forms. Charismatic characters step onto the stage, leading the audience into surprising encounters. Elements of the grotesque, playful humor, and constant unpredictability keep the intensity high, creating an unforgettable experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Set in a universe of domestic trappings and interlocking stories, Canadian People Watching\u2019s creation \u00a0Play Dead observes the beautiful, twisted and sometimes laughable facets of the human experience. Through its dynamic hybrid of acrobatics, movement and physical theatre, the piece puts forth a surrealist chronicle of the familiar. But far from settling into bored fatalism, this show marvels at the absurdity of the mundane and celebrates life, the same way people desperately dance to the last song before the party ends.<\/p>\n
