Do you dare enter a world of nightly visions and hallucination, surrealism and decadence?
NIGHTTOWN, an immersive performance inspired by Chapter 15 of James Joyce’s famed Ulysses takes over the former Bank of Finland building in Oulu.
The bank’s vaults and halls are the stage where dance, circus, music, bent light, photography and other visual arts come together to create an unforgettable performance. The viewer traverses an ever-changing, intense piece in which Joyce’s stream-of-consciousness odyssey becomes flesh.
NIGHTTOWN is a performance created by an international group of 15 artists and directed by Pirjo Yli-Maunula. The work is commissioned by Lumo Light Festival and is a part of the Ulysses – European Odyssey project where events, exhibitions or performances based on one of the book’s chapters take place in 18 cities across Europe.
If you visit NIGHTTOWN more than once, you will always see something new.
The walkthroughs (starting on the hour and half past) are available for booking at Lumo Light Festival’s website later during the autumn: https://www.ouka.fi/lumo/
