Self Portrait is an intimate artistic portrait of a dancer, performed in front of a small audience on an arena stage. The work asks questions on how identity is made up and how people change. The work comments the path of a dancer and the themes it brings up, but also constructs a portrait of a whole person. It could be compared with a painter´s self portrait. Yli-Maunula´s performance offers spectators glimpses of her own experience as a dancer; the body, senses and being a performance artist.
