Magical ice music at Oulu Market Square! When internationally renowned ice music pioneer Terje Isungset from Norway brings his quartet to the stage, the result is pure magic.
A unique and amazing concert experience is created not only by singing, but also by instruments made of ice and the clear sounds they produce. On stage there is an ice harp, ice bass, ice percussion, ice drums, ice phone and a few ice horns, as well as a not-so-frozen singer.
The ice concert is a tribute to the most important thing in the world: nature itself. Wild nature, silence, mountains, and life-giving water—we find it all on stage in the form of musical instruments.
Isungset is a touring drummer and composer. He started playing ice music in 1999, and CNN has named him “the world’s first and only ice musician.” Since then, he has toured the world with his unique concept and performed extensively in various parts of the world: in addition to his home country, in Canada, Japan, India, Russia, China, the USA, Turkey, Australia, and throughout Europe.
Terje Isungset has collaborated with Oulu-based Flow Productions on two projects. In 2011, he composed the music for Karsikko, and Flow also used his recorded music in SVARTISEN.
“It’s a chiming, intimate and utterly beautiful world of sound”
