“Flow Productions’ shows are long-affecting, life-affirming experiences. I can still draw from each of those works. They create meaning just for you.”
–Audience feedback
Flow Productions is an Oulu-based group founded by two dance artists, Maria Littow and Pirjo Yli-Maunula. It is known for multi-artistic work that creates complete experiences for all the senses. The artistic goal of Flow Productions is to create meaningful and shared experiences that speak personally to each viewer.
Stage work and immersive, site-specific pieces take turns in the company’s programme. In addition to its original work, Flow Productions brings world-class Finnish and international contemporary circus artists to Oulu under the heading Flow Circus.
In its 18 years of operation, Flow Productions has created 43 original pieces and, since 2013, brought 78 contemporary circus shows to Oulu.
Flow Productions operates in close collaboration with other Oulu institutions and creative entities, and for its own part further develops the art community of Oulu. This collaborative and network-based approach is evidenced by regular collaborations with Cultural Centre Valve, Oulu Music Festival, Oulu Theatre, Oulu Theatre Festival for Young Audiences, Oulu August Festival and Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture.
The main funders of Flow Productions are the City of Oulu and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Flow has currently support also from Uudet klassikot and Finnish Culture Fund.
Flow Productions is involved in the national Art Testers project for the fifth year in a row to provide circus experiences for 8-graders.
