The season has started as busy as always. I´m working on several different projects, two of which will premiere this spring, one during the summer and two more in the fall.
This week I´m working with the wonderful flamenco guitarist, Joonas Widenius. We are working on a short piece Elegy, which will premiere in Oulu Art Museum March the 5th, in the opening of an exhibition called Gl´amour.
I have enjoyed especially the really subtle connection we found between music and dance while improvising together last week. We need to really carefully listen to each other, open ourselves, and grasp the moment to find that connection. Then the dance and music seems to be created with an extreme ease.
Elegy commonly describes a poem of mourning. The Elegy of these two artists is a love song from the edge of the world. It describes the fear we might feel while falling in love, when you open yourself to another person, when that person gets under your skin. It is a poem about love ache, the maddness and maybe just a little bit of the joy, too.
