Stellaris DanceTheatre has had the pleasure to bring together this particular cast with people from different professional fields for this performance. We have worked under the module principle and within a short time frame as all participants are spread over a large geographical area. The challenges have been many. It has therefore been a pleasure for me to experience immense creativity among all participants. Everyone has powered on in below zero degrees outside during filming, crossing great distance travelling to rehearsal periods and managing everyone’s tights schedules. As the producer of the performance, the positive energy of the cast was a great gift.
The movement material is choreographed through specific movement sequences and improvisation. Within certain frames, I’ve been lucky as a choreographer to work with courageous and expressive dancers that have taken responsibility in the process of developing their character.
Thematically I have worked with the “I” as a main character, presented in the film. The “I” has a split personality consisting of several people/characters, which the audience will experience on stage. People communicate with each other in a landscape seemingly real for each of them. Not everything is as they believe, or the way they want the world to be.
Along with the other scenic elements we want to take the audience on a journey into our imagination where a game between the characters may have unknown consequences. Enjoy the performance. (Choreographer Solveig Leinan-Hermo)
Stellaris DanceTheatre as is a professional dance company based in Hammerfest, Norway. Dance artist Solveig Leinan-Hermo is executive and artistic director of the company.
Stellaris DanceTheatre / Solveig Leinan-Hermo collaborates yearly with different professional institutions both nationally and internationally. The company mainly tours the Barents Region/ northern areas. Through this work Stellaris DanceTheatre has created a large network.
